Progress and Stakeholder Discussion on the Revision of Geological Mapping and Exploration Standards and Norms
As part of the GEOMINE 2026 Pre-Conference Workshop Program, a dedicated technical workshop and stakeholder consultation will be held to present and discuss the ongoing revision of Mongolia’s geological mapping and exploration standards and norms.
The workshop will introduce the current progress of the project, its methodological framework, the proposed structure of the revised normative system, and key areas of modernization.
What Will Be Discussed?
The workshop will address:
- Assessment of the existing geological standards and norms and challenges identified in their practical application;
- The need and rationale for revising the current normative system;
- Classification of geological activities and work stages;
- Differentiation between natural-condition parameters and project-specific parameters;
- Productivity, labor-input, and time-standard calculations;
- Integration of GIS, remote sensing, and modern digital technologies into geological work standards;
- The proposed structure, classification, and parameter system of the revised framework;
- Calculation methodologies and selected examples of revised normative tables.
These topics will be presented by the project team and followed by an open technical discussion with participants.
Your Expertise Can Contribute to the New Framework
