Academic Scope
This sub-session focuses on the economic, financial, and policy dimensions of mineral resource development, with particular emphasis on investment systems, regulatory frameworks, and strategic resource governance. As global demand for critical minerals continues to rise, resource-rich countries face increasing challenges in balancing economic growth, investment attractiveness, and sustainable development objectives.
The session aims to provide a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on mineral economics, investment environments, and mining policy systems at both national and international levels. It explores how fiscal regimes, regulatory structures, and institutional frameworks influence resource development, capital flows, and long-term sector performance.
Contributions are invited on resource valuation, project financing, and investment risk analysis, as well as on mining law, taxation, and policy reform. Special attention is given to emerging topics such as critical-minerals supply chains, energy-transition-driven demand, and the geopolitical dimensions of resource development.
The session also welcomes case studies and comparative analyses that highlight best practices in policy design, investment strategies, and governance mechanisms. By bringing together researchers, policymakers, industry professionals, and financial stakeholders, this sub-session seeks to support evidence-based decision-making and promote resilient, transparent, and competitive mineral resource systems.
