Hydrocarbon Systems, Reservoir Engineering & Petroleum Geology

Oil, Gas & Energy Systems — Hydrocarbon systems, infrastructure, digitalization, and low-carbon transition.

Sub-session description

Academic Scope

This sub-session focuses on the scientific and engineering aspects of hydrocarbon exploration, reservoir characterization, drilling technologies, and production systems. It provides a platform for advancing understanding of petroleum systems and subsurface resource development through integrated geological, geophysical, and engineering approaches.
The sub-session welcomes contributions related to conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon exploration, seismic imaging, subsurface characterization, drilling technologies, well engineering, and reservoir management. Studies addressing reservoir performance, production optimization, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), and emerging exploration opportunities are particularly encouraged.
Special attention is given to the application of advanced technologies and integrated workflows that improve exploration success, reservoir understanding, and hydrocarbon recovery. Contributions related to Coal Bed Methane (CBM) exploration and development, particularly within Mongolia and comparable geological settings, are also highly welcome.
